Curves – Lesson 5

Draw circles lightly with a pencil on the watercolour paper. Practise different sizes of circles then go over the circles with paint. In the example, I dabbled one side of the circle with a tissue to make a soft edge and to make it look like water droplets.

To make the circles more 3-D pay greater attention to how the light will affect the water droplets. With white paint I added dots. I also added contrasting dark shades

The white was intensified by everyday chalk used for blackboards. There are some wonderful Youtube videos giving detailed instructions on painting water droplets, which can be used on compositions. Frequently they are on painted leaves and flowers. There is a wonderful You Tube video that provides a good demonstration.
